The internet is a Network of Networks or a worldwide of collection of computer Networks, cooperating with each other to exchange data using a common software standard or protocol. Internet is a collection of computer Networks that operate to common standards and enable the computers and programs that run to communicate directly with each other. Internet connection is usually accomplished using international standards collectively called TCP/IP (Transmission control protocol/Internet protocol) which is issued by an organization called internet engineering task force combined with a network registration process and with the aid to public provider of internet access services known as ISP
(Internet services providers). This is accomplished through telephone wires wireless or satellite internet users can share information in variety of ways.
The size, scope and design of the internet enable users to:
- Connect easily through PCs and local phone numbers.
- Exchange electronic mail (e-mail) with friends and colleagues with internet accounts.
- Publish information for others to access and frequently update them.
- Access multimedia such as sound, photographic images and video
- Access diverse information around the world
- Electronic data interchange (EDI) which facilities the flows of tasks between
- Navigation utilities like search engines to help engine to help locates the resource and information needed
- The internet provides access to a wealth of information on countless topics contributions by people through the world. The internet itself does not contain information, what contains the information are the computer linked to the internet.
- One the internet, a user has a wide variety of services vast information sources, electronic mail, file transfer internet group membership, interactive collaboration, multimedia display, online chatting etc. No doubt the internet is referred to as the information super highway. This is because of its efficiency in serving as a getaway to unlimited information sources.
